Second Lottery – April 12 due date for requests

What:

School requests received by April 12 will have a second lottery opportunity focused on ensuring a mix of students from all economic backgrounds in our magnets, and focused on community schools that still have lots of room.
 
Some students will automatically be included in this second lottery as outlined in the chart below. Please know that participating in the second lottery does not guarantee placement at a school.
 
If you’d like to explore other school options, you can do so and still submit a new request for the second lottery until the April 12 due date. Fore more information, you can check the Second Lottery FAQ.

 

When:

New school requests are due by April 12, though not all families need to complete a new request. Use the chart below to see if you will automatically be included in the second lottery or if you are eligible to send another school request.

While the second lottery has an April 12 due date, MPS places families in schools all year long based on placement criteria and available space. You can work with the Student Placement team to find the right fit for your student.

 

How:

If you are not automatically included in the second lottery as outlined below, please submit a new school request.

Any family is welcome to submit a request for the second lottery, though not all families will need to submit a request. Please use the chart below to help guide your decision.
