You Are Here - What's Happening Now in the Placement Process

Placement Notification Letters to arrive in homes first week of March

The first lottery due date was February 7, 2021. All requests received by this date were included in our initial lottery, and letters containing placement notification and information about next steps will be mailed to homes the first week of March.

Second Lottery due-date April 5, 2021

Requests received after the due date for schools where there are more requests than available seats will be entered into a second lottery. The due date for the second lottery is April 5, 2021. In-area requests* for community schools with sufficient openings will be made continuously without being entered in the lottery. Out-of-area** and magnet requests will be added to waiting lists and entered in the April lottery.

* In-area request refers to a school request for the community school for the attendance area in which the student resides. As long as there is capacity, we will always place a student at their community school when requested.

** Out-of-area request refers to a school request for the community school of an attendance area in which the student does not live. A certain percentage of out-of-area placements can be made at community elementary, middle and high schools, but according to the district's placement priority protocols, in-area requests are to be prioritized over out-of-area requests.
