Ella Baker Global Studies and Humanities Magnet fosters advocacy for self and others, problem solving, and critical and creative thinking through a global lens.  
 
In the heart of Uptown Minneapolis, surrounded by rich cultural opportunities, Ella Baker Global Studies and Humanities Magnet School welcomes students from around the city. Ella Baker is guided by the core principles of positive identity development, culturally responsive curriculum and instruction, community service opportunities, and global competency. Students will be challenged to explore and examine the past, present and future through a critical and global lens. The school’s academic and social emotional learning approach will lead students through a broader understanding of themselves, their community and the world. The global studies and humanities magnet school model promotes service learning, intergenerational collaboration and student-led inquiry and discovery.

Magnet Schools

Citywide magnet schools welcome students from all neighborhoods across Minneapolis. Magnet schools provide innovative programs focused on specific themes such as the Arts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics), Dual Language, Montessori, and Global Studies and Humanities.
