Specialized Programs

Specialized Programming is designed to meet specific community placement needs or the requirements of a student's individual education plan (IEP). To receive special education services, a student must first be evaluated and meet state criteria. Once qualified, an IEP is developed for the student. Programs and services are provided to students and their families beginning at birth through age 21 or completion of a secondary education program. Special education is also available for students who live in Minneapolis that attend non-public schools.

Early Childhood Special Education

MPS Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) provides screening and intervention services to families with children ages birth to kindergarten who are at risk of having a developmental delay or have been identified with a developmental delay or disability.

Ronald McDonald House*

Minneapolis Public Schools administers at on-site K-12 school at Ronald McDonald House (RMH) for families who are guests of RMH, This school is one of only two "one-room schoolhouses" in Minnesota.  

Stadium View School

Stadium View School is a Minneapolis Public School that provides educational services for students detained at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center or Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.  Nationally recognized for its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement in education, Stadium View School became the 2nd school in a detention center to become nationally accredited by AdvancED.
