Get to know us
The FAIR High School for Arts is THE Artist’s Choice for High School!

Does picking up a paintbrush, stepping on a stage, or writing a song transform you and allow you to truly express yourself? Do you dream big and not only think outside the box, but erase it altogether? Are you looking for a high school that feels like home, where you can be accepted for who you are? Then we welcome you to The FAIR High School for Arts, which is THE place for artists and performers. Located in downtown Minneapolis at the gateway to the Arts District, The Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Resource (FAIR) School for Arts is a public 9-12 citywide magnet high school rooted in equity, innovation and creativity. All students, regardless of background or experience in the arts, or residence in Minneapolis, can request to attend FAIR and learn through arts-integrated classes and diverse downtown arts and career internship experiences. From performing on the stages of historic theaters to showcasing art at the X-Games, FAIR students see art not as an extracurricular activity, but core to their learning.

Students’ individual interests and talents are nurtured through diverse and culturally sustaining learning experiences both inside the walls of FAIR and extending to the greater downtown arts campus. Fine arts and core content teachers will get to know students' individuals to guide them on their paths to success. FAIR wants to help students discover and refine their own artistry by connecting them with resident professional artists and partnerships in the downtown community.

Perform on stage, create in a studio, or work behind the scenes while completing a high school degree through arts-integrated coursework.  All students entering grades 9-12, regardless of background or experience in the arts, are invited to apply through a flexible admissions process.  Students with an eagerness to learn and a capacity for continued growth are encouraged to come learn with FAIR.

The FAIR High School for Arts is a Minneapolis Public School - but is unique as the District's only high school magnet and only MPS school that gives equal priority to residents and non-residents. Students enrolled at FAIR also have equal access to Go-To Passes for taking the city bus to and from school. Non-Minneapolis residents welcome!

Minnesota Report Card Data

The Minnesota Report Card is a tool to help inform families and communities about their schools so they can make important decisions and meaningfully engage with schools and educators. However, Minnesota Report Card data only provides a partial snapshot of what the experience may be like at any given school. MPS recommends connecting directly with school leaders and communities through school tours, open houses and other events to gain a fuller understanding of how our schools support students and families.
