Bethune Arts Elementary School celebrates community, creativity and arts integration

Bethune Arts Elementary School is in Minneapolis’ Heritage Park neighborhood. Students experience learning that integrates the arts into all core subjects. Bethune’s proximity to downtown provides easy access to thriving arts and theater opportunities. Students can enhance and showcase their learning through arts experiences such as artist residencies, field trips, community partnerships, and performances. All students at Bethune participate in a year-long residency with The Children’s Theater Company to support social emotional learning, critical literacy and writing development.

Bethune values family engagement and participation and offers many opportunities for family arts experiences. As a full-service community school, Bethune also offers health support, activities outside of school, and family engagement for our students and their families. Arts programming continues at the Franklin STEAM magnet for middle school and at FAIR High School for the Arts.

Minnesota Report Card Data

The Minnesota Report Card is a tool to help inform families and communities about their schools so they can make important decisions and meaningfully engage with schools and educators. However, Minnesota Report Card data only provides a partial snapshot of what the experience may be like at any given school. MPS recommends connecting directly with school leaders and communities through school tours, open houses and other events to gain a fuller understanding of how our schools support students and families.
