Hmong International Academy

Hmong International Academy shares Hmong language and heritage while honoring all students, families, and cultures

Located in Minneapolis’s vibrant Near North neighborhood, Hmong International Academy (HIA) is a diverse pre-K through grade 5 school.  HIA prepares students for success in the 21st century while preserving and sharing Hmong language and culture, and honoring all cultures. In addition to being like any other MPS elementary school, HIA hosts a one-way dual language program where native speaking students are encouraged to continue the Hmong language and culture program at Olson Middle School and then Henry High School. In Fall 2021, HIA will begin redefining its path for the years ahead. HIA students, families and members of the community will be involved in that process.

Minnesota Report Card Data

The Minnesota Report Card is a tool to help inform families and communities about their schools so they can make important decisions and meaningfully engage with schools and educators. However, Minnesota Report Card data only provides a partial snapshot of what the experience may be like at any given school. MPS recommends connecting directly with school leaders and communities through school tours, open houses and other events to gain a fuller understanding of how our schools support students and families.
