Hiawatha

Hiawatha and Howe Elementary Schools partner with families and caregivers to support the whole child by cultivating social emotional well-being and fostering a dynamic academic learning environment.

Located in its namesake neighborhood in Southeast Minneapolis, Hiawatha Elementary School serves grades K-2 and is within walking distance of Minnehaha Falls, and four blocks from its 3-5  feeder school, Howe Elementary School. Howe and Hiawatha maximize individual and collective student potential through differentiated instruction, critical thinking, high expectations, and strategic use of technology within a nurturing and diverse community of learners. Strong partnerships and investments by the community, caregivers and school staff ensure a quality education for all Howe students.

Minnesota Report Card Data

The Minnesota Report Card is a tool to help inform families and communities about their schools so they can make important decisions and meaningfully engage with schools and educators. However, Minnesota Report Card data only provides a partial snapshot of what the experience may be like at any given school. MPS recommends connecting directly with school leaders and communities through school tours, open houses and other events to gain a fuller understanding of how our schools support students and families.
